First Cafe provides coffee, tea and snacks before and after the Sunday service. This is a great time to come enjoy a snack and fellowship.
Parish Life Ministry Events
The Parish Life Ministry Team’s mission is to enrich the life of the church by coordinating social events and opportunities for fellowship. We serve our congregation through hosting First Cafe, Seasonal Breakfasts, and activities/outings for youth, families, and seniors including Rally Day, an Advent Celebration, Soup & Bread luncheons, a Seder dinner, an Ice Cream Social, Ironbirds game trips and more!
The camping club consists of about five or six families that camp once a month from May through October. We normally camp from Friday through Sunday at state or private campgrounds within a three hour drive of Bel Air, MD. If anyone is interested in camping for just one of the weekends we would love to have you camp with us; we always would like more members or visitors to join us. 2017 will be our twentieth-year as the camping club that was started by Ron and Marge Garling.
C.R.E.W. (Christ Requires Everyone to Work) is a group of church members who meet every Monday morning from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM and do whatever needs to be done around the church property. Annually, they save the congregation 600 to 700 man-hours of labor costs. Some of the tasks include replacing light bulbs, repairing leaking faucets and toilets, trimming shrubbery, assisting with parking for many of the church events, and performing many other minor repair jobs.
The Book Club, which began 11 years ago, meets in the Library on the 4th Monday of each month, except December, from 7:00 – 8:15 PM. The group provides deep insight into what the author is sharing and discusses their opinions of the book. Books are selected by the group based on member suggestions or outside recommendations, and they lean toward biographies, mysteries and historical fiction. The group welcomes anyone who loves to read.
The Friendship Stitchery group enjoys sharing mutual textile interests and comradery as they knit, crochet, embroider, quilt or even mend together. They meet in the library at 1:30 PM on the first and third Thursdays of the month year round. Friends from other Presbyterian churches and the community regularly attend and all are welcome, regardless of skill level.
